The Project
Context and Motivation
The complexity of contemporary challenges, as outlined by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), demands a reshaping of how new scientists are trained. Problems such as food security and soil contamination do not respect geopolitical borders.
The Crossing Boundaries project was conceived to bridge the gap between traditional technical training and the global competencies required in the 21st century. By connecting Durham University and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), we have established a transnational laboratory for innovation.
Our premise is that cultural diversity is not an obstacle, but a catalyst for solving complex problems in chemistry and biotechnology.
